Our Heritage
Now
Interior design is a logical step for a company which has, over the years, developed and honed their knowledge of all aspects of narrowboating; from the hidden workings of the engine, electrics and plumbing to external aesthetics and interior layouts and design. Now, with many years of boat building experience behind them Aqua Narrowboats believe they are best placed to not only supply, but to advise on, interior design for small spaces – primarily narrowboats.
Learning from their past struggles to find fabrics, fixtures and fittings suited to small spaces Aqua Narrowboats can now supply and fit made-to-measure blinds, bungs, seat covers etc. As a business specialising in narrowboats our team understand that every boat is unique in its layout, design and use, and therefore every boat deserves to be considered individually. Our made-to-measure service ensures a perfect fit every time.
Aqua Narrowboats have hand selected fabrics suited to small spaces, with petit designs and lower repeat patterns your small space will soon feel like home. To browse the collections click here.
Then
Learning from their experience Aqua Narrowboats then aimed to provide better and better quality boats, exploring new layouts and designs with the goal of creating bespoke spaces suited to each individual’s lifestyle. Justin and Jane (MD’s) developed a great eye for detail as they co-designed small spaces with customers, never afraid of experimenting with new ideas Justin and Jane can cater for all tastes – from the ultra-contemporary to the traditional. Before
In 2008 Aqua Narrowboats expanded their business and moved to their current base at Mercia Marina, hired local carpenters and engineers and quickly developed into a busy bespoke boat building and marine repairs centre, renowned for quality.
The hire fleet grew to include four 5* narrowboats, all owned by sponsors who request a high specification for their own personal use. The sponsorship scheme enables boat owners to enjoy the canals and waterways whilst receiving an income; after four years in the hire fleet the sponsored boat is released to the owner, and a new hire boat takes its place.
Previously
The Aqua Narrowboats journey began in 2004 in Kings Bromley when Justin (MD) hand built the first hire boat, soon after a second boat joined the fleet and that’s when the narrowboat bug really caught.
